The CFO will join a small but impactful executive team and report directly to the CEO to help manage the ambitious international growth. This crucial role is central to driving Oxitec's success via sound financial operations, ensuring full compliance, establishing new programs and country operations, and helping drive corporate strategy and operations.
You will lead a talented finance team in the UK and abroad, taking full responsibility for all finance strategy, operations, and reporting, ensuring an effective control environment and overseeing both internal and external financial reporting, annual budgeting, and cash flow management. You will also help manage reporting and compliance to the Board, large collaborators, and other reporting requirements. Supporting the CEO and other ELT members, you will provide strategic guidance and support to a growing commercial operation and to the CEO on special strategic initiatives.
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with a proven track record of success in senior financial leadership and management roles, preferably within an international, multisite environment in an innovation-driven or mid-sized technology start-up. You should be versed in UK and US financial reporting/compliance requirements, as well as have general exposure to setting up or managing financial operations and teams in additional countries. Experience in grant funding and reporting would be highly beneficial, as would leadership experience in managing financial operations and growth in commercial and manufacturing lines of business. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams, are required, as well as a hands-on mentality with a proactive approach to problem-solving and driving results.
