Supporting the Buildings department in routine maintenance of the College’s buildings and facilities. Working with team members and other departmental staff to ensure work is carried out to the required standard of quality.
Due to the needs of the school and department, interviews may be held before the closing date, and the job may close early if a large number of applications are received. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications early to avoid missing out.
Main Duties
* Assist tradespeople in carrying out work in College properties to the required standards;
* Perform removal works, set up rooms, and move equipment;
* Carry out labouring duties both in the workshop and on College premises;
* Complete timesheets and similar records of work completed;
* Follow current health and safety legislation and best practices in line with the College Health and Safety policy;
* Ensure personal safety and the safety of others, follow instructions, cooperate with line managers, and report hazards or defective equipment promptly;
* Assist other trades within your competence and experience;
* Perform duties as required by management;
* Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion;
* Understand that all positions at Eton are 'regulated activities' under 'Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022' and adhere to safeguarding procedures;
* Commit to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, including completing required safeguarding training and reading updates;
* Comply with confidentiality procedures and legislation.
Working Pattern
* 37.5 hours per week, with hours to be discussed with your Line Manager;
* 52 weeks per year;
* 21 days of holiday entitlement.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate should have:
* Relevant labouring experience;
* A valid UK driving licence;
* General knowledge of building trades;
* The ability to work effectively in a team and communicate appropriately with college staff;
* A good sense of initiative.
