Continuous Improvement Practitioner – embedding a CI culture
About us
Mole Valley sits in a National Landscape, and we are passionate about protecting and enhancing our stunning natural environment.
In Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) over the next few years we have ambitious outcomes that will ensure we deliver great services for residents, businesses, and visitors. As a public sector organisation, there is an expectation to make savings through service (and digital) transformation.
We work hard to ensure MVDC is a great place to work, where people thrive in a positive and supportive culture. Our values: we lead, we trust, we listen, we care, we respect are integral to all that we do.
About the role and team
Working closely with the Executive Head of Service (Transformation & Partnerships) and the Organisational Change Manager, your role as a Continuous Improvement Practitioner is vital to our plans. You will team up with our Senior CI practitioner within the Transformation Team, fostering a supportive environment for mutual learning and growth. As a confident and visible change manager in the organisation, you’ll bring opportunities to life for everyone at all levels.
Using your experience and expertise, you will help us to review our “as-is” position within our core services, focused on identifying waste and inefficiency, as well as opportunities to find process improvements, increased capability and digital enhancements that enable us to deliver our “to-be” ambitions to provide long-term benefits for Mole Valley residents, businesses, and visitors.
Working collaboratively with the Digital, HR, Customer Service, Communications and Service Delivery leads across MVDC, you will oversee and support projects to ensure MVDC is a high performing service delivery organisation, making best use of public money.
About you
You will be a confident and capable change manager. Able to demonstrate recent experience of LEAN/Continuous Improvement/Business Analyst projects and initiatives. This should include process improvements, digital solutions, and building change confidence and capability in others to leave a positive change legacy.
You will role model a continuous improvement culture. This will include sharing your knowledge and insight focused on process improvement, customer engagement and end-to-end service transformation.
You will understand the importance and value of Change Management. As well as having a change qualification (such as LEAN) you will be able to demonstrate how you have successfully applied this in practice to deliver organisational change using a programmatic approach. And you will have a strong aptitude for data - analysis and visualisation – underpinning plans with evidence, defining how we will measure and realise the benefits from the change projects being proposed.
You will be an excellent communicator and teacher. Ideally you will have central and/or local government experience so you understand the complex political environment we need to deliver change within. You need to be able to build confidence and capability of others to embrace change in this complex environment. You will be inspiring and engaging, persuading others to come with us on the change journey.
Note this is a fixed term 12-month contract with potential to extend
