West Gate School is a local authority maintained special school setting for 200 4 – 19-year-olds. We cater for children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities. Many of our learners have autism as part of their profile and our curriculum offer reflects the range of opportunities they need to succeed. We have four pathways which each have their own curriculum offer, a well-developed therapeutic offer and a range of excellent resources to draw upon. We believe our core purpose is to prepare our young people for adulthood, so they are ‘learning for life’. You can access a wealth of additional information from our school website.
We are looking for an individual with a genuine passion for working with learners who have SEND and their families. Applicants should believe that it is the right of every child to make outstanding progress and that every child has a right to celebrate their achievements, be an individual, be aspirational and be equal. We offer a bespoke induction programme, extensive training, comprehensive wellbeing support and the opportunity to develop yourself as an expert practitioner. The successful candidate will be a team player, who enjoys creating imaginative learning experiences. You are more than welcome to arrange a visit to the school and experience our fun, vibrant setting and amazing pupils.
The post is suitable for teachers with special needs experience, ECTs and teachers from mainstream primary schools, looking to make a change. Applications from teachers with either primary or secondary experience are welcome.
The ideal candidate is a dedicated, resilient and highly motivated individual, who wants to contribute to our vibrant school team and help our amazing pupils to be their best. If you are committed to high quality education for all, then we would love to hear from you.
