Job Title: Care Assistant

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Reports to: Unit Manager
Principal Purpose of Role:
As a Care Assistant, you will work alongside other staff to meet the personal care needs of service users while maintaining their dignity and promoting independence. You will assist with general day-to-day activities, ensuring the residents feel safe, respected, and supported.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist service users with personal care (e.g., dressing, washing, toileting, and bathing).
2. Support with mobility and physical disabilities, including the use of aids and equipment.
3. Help service users who are sick, requiring minor dressings or assistance with feeding.
4. Assist in promoting mental and physical activities through communication, outings, and recreation.
5. Perform light cleaning, bed making, and room tidying.
6. Serve meals, assist with feeding, and ensure a clean dining area.
7. Answer emergency bells, the door, and the phone, and greet visitors.
8. Maintain accurate records and participate in meetings and training.
9. Support service users in maintaining their independence.
10. Administer medication as required.

3. Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
4. Good communication skills.
Special Conditions:
Six day duties and four night duties. Morning shifts consist of six care staff and two cleaners. Afternoon/evening shifts have four staff on duty. Night duty requires four night staff.
Qualifications & Experience:
Previous care experience is desirable, but not essential. Ability to work to the highest standards in care. A positive, respectful attitude to confidentiality and safeguarding.
