We are looking for an Assistant Category Manager to support in optimising our customer offer, sales, availability and profitability. Driving timely and accurate actions to support and carry out the planning, selection, administration of the ranges.
* To work closely with suppliers to deliver the best product, at the best price at the right time.
* To liaise with e-comm and onboarding teams to achieve the overall department KPIs and objectives.
* Day to day housekeeping including critical path management, dept organisation and up to date filing and ensure deadlines are adhered to.
* Take ownership of own ranges and brands E2E, present ranges to CM for sign off.
* Prepare Best & Worst and competitor trackers for trade meetings using BI and Ecomm Reports. Ensuring that all information is accurate before presented. Present in Trade meetings.
* Support CM and ACM to manage the critical path ensuring the dept is in line with the deadline dates set. Highlighting upstream any potential issues that need immediate action.
* Identify opportunities with the CM in regards to prices, range width, gaps or potential over ranging.
* Build relationships with Tech Onboarding Team to understand the status of each suppliers set up and any blockers that may occur.
* Taking an active role within strategy planning and meetings, displaying your understanding of lessons learnt and how to move forward. Being an expert in your field – regularly reviewing competitors and constantly benchmarking.
* Load the new ranges from suppliers for launch ensuring they are accurate.
* Manage the product launch approval process.
* Matalan store visits – regular visits to ensure up to speed with wider business initiatives.
* Where necessary train/support any new IP/work experience who may join the dept on a structured year out placement in conjunction with the CM.
* Attend supplier visits and trade shows where necessary to identify any opportunity, view upcoming ranges and discuss recent trading.
Minimum Requirements:
* Commercially aware.
* Ability to work independently to tight deadlines.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels.
* Experience of development and coaching is essential.
