An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Principal Engineer to join the Facilities & EHS department. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, conducting risk assessments, delivering training, and driving continuous improvement across EHS systems and initiatives. The Role Reporting to the Facilities & EHS Manager, the EHS Principal Engineer will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance. Key responsibilities include: Developing, implementing, and monitoring the EHS Management Systems in compliance with legislation. Keeping up to date with EHS regulations and advising senior management on compliance requirements. Conducting audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are in place. Supporting the EHS Committee to ensure clear communication and consultation on health, safety, and environmental matters. Managing EHS training programs to ensure compliance across the organisation. Overseeing incident response procedures and ensuring the emergency response team is in place. Ensuring compliance in key environmental areas such as: PPC Air Permitting, Trade Effluent Wastewater, and Hazardous Waste Management ISO14001 environmental management systems and audits Chemical storage, handling, and emergency planning Overseeing safety measures including: ISO45001 safety management systems and audits Laser Safety, Ionising Radiation, and RF Safety Incident investigation, emergency management, and hazardous chemical handling About You To be successful in this role, you will have: 5 years of experience as an EHS Principal Engineer in a manufacturing, oil, or chemical industry setting. A NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent qualification) in Health & Safety. A STEM degree (Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar). Strong knowledge of ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards, including experience in audit compliance. Membership of a professional body such as IOSH or IEMA. Experience in risk assessments, COSHH, accident investigation, and problem-solving techniques. A solid understanding of regulatory bodies and compliance requirements. Project management skills with the ability to drive EHS initiatives. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
