Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Secondary School – SEN Focus Location: Ashington Position: Wednesday Thursday, Friday: Temporary (Early February - End of March) Start Date: As soon as possible Protocol Education is currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a secondary school setting. This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate individual who is experienced in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and who is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide tailored support to students with ASD, helping them to access the curriculum and engage in lessons. Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs). Work closely with teachers and other staff to adapt lessons and activities to meet the needs of students with ASD. Foster a positive and safe learning environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Support students with their social interactions, communication, and personal development both inside and outside of the classroom. Help manage any behavioural challenges with a calm and patient approach, ensuring students receive the support they need to succeed. Maintain regular communication with parents, carers, and other professionals involved in the students' care. Key Requirements: Previous experience working with students with ASD is essential. A strong understanding of SEN, particularly ASD, and how it impacts learning and behaviour. Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students and staff. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and a commitment to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed. A proactive and flexible approach to work.
