An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Directorate at Maidstone Hospital. Kent & Medway Orthopaedic Centre (KMOC) is a brand-new purpose-built, large single-story building in the grounds of Maidstone Hospital in Kent, designed to deliver Elective Orthopaedic surgery to all patients from all across Kent & Medway and is due to open in March 2024.
KMOC is currently looking to recruit Registered Nursing Associates who have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, are organised with a positive attitude, and are flexible and proactive. You must be dedicated and passionate about providing the best possible care for our patients and will share our vision and values in best practice.
The centre operates 6 days a week and provides planned orthopaedic surgery for arthritic conditions and soft tissue injuries affecting the bones and joints.
The Directorate promotes evidence-based high standards of patient care, and with the support of the Orthopaedic Practice Development Team, we are always looking for new initiatives to improve patient experiences and outcomes. Professional development is paramount, and all staff are encouraged to fulfil their potential. You will have ample opportunity to learn and develop yourself within your role, including the opportunity to complete the 2-year top-up programme to qualify as a RN.
Main duties of the job
You must be able to look after patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse with minimal supervision and be confident to assist the Registered Nurse to plan, implement, and evaluate programmes of care to ensure person-centered care is delivered to each patient.
You must be able to carry out the relevant care without direct supervision and assist with teaching and supervising Student Nurses and Clinical Support Workers.

Job responsibilities
Once your pre-employment checks have been completed, you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date, which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.
Following your Corporate Induction, you will be expected to attend the Trust's 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs, and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email mtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.net if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions, and e-learning.

Qualifications
* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Nursing Associate Registrant.
* Evidence of further education since qualification.
Experience/Knowledge
* Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice at the level of a newly qualified Nursing Associate.
* Able to demonstrate understanding of the NMC Code and its application in practice.
* Understands own accountability, responsibility, and limitations.
* Able to demonstrate understanding of the principles of equality and diversity and its application in practice.
* Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing.
* Band 4 Nursing Associate experience in an acute setting.
Skills
