Purpose of the Role
As an Exterior Lighting Engineer you will collaborate with the Functional Manager - Lighting to deliver our product ambitions and to shape our Beyond100+ strategy. In this role you will deliver automotive Lighting Functions and associated Lighting Hardware to meet the requirements of the Project Description Brochure. Reporting into the Functional Manager - Exterior Lighting your main responsibilities include:
1. Responsible for the specification, test, integration and validation to achieve the cost, weight, timing and quality targets for the project
2. Achieve engineering signoff for lighting systems & functions within the project timing
3. Support and lead Design Development
4. Responsible for planning and managing project related activities throughout a complete project development
5. Ability to solve Highly complex Engineering and design related problems
6. Developing and maintaining Specialist knowledge
About the Team
This role is working within the Exterior Lighting team, the team goal and tasks are to create and develop future world class lighting systems and products. This agile and forward thinking team work cross functionally across the whole business, including Production, Project, Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Body & Trim, Electrical Engineering and Volkswagen Group.
About you - Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will be a Lighting Engineer ideally within the automotive Industry who has experience of regulations and directives.
1. Detailed knowledge of product design using CATIA V5
2. Detailed knowledge of independent data interrogation
3. Experience and understanding of automotive Lighting Systems
4. Understands vehicle electrical architecture, function and integration
5. Understanding of complex plastic injection moulding tooling
6. Knowledge of FuSi requirements
7. Understanding of optical design and the distribution of lighting
8. An Engineering Degree or equivalent relevant experience
