About Ocado Intelligent Automation (OIA): Ocado Intelligent Automation (OIA) is a division within Ocado Technology that focuses on developing advanced automation and robotics systems for Ocado's smart warehouses and fulfilment centres. This unit creates innovative solutions that automate logistical tasks such as order picking, packing, and inventory management, leveraging robotics, AI, and machine learning to optimise these processes.
About the Role: The OIA Editorial Manager will be responsible for managing the delivery of our editorial content strategy and developing a calendar of impactful content aligned with business objectives. This role will collaborate closely with teams across various functions to produce compelling short- and long-form content that meets strategic needs. Examples include product narratives, web content, blogs, FAQs, videos, social media, and messaging documents.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in senior content roles within B2B technology businesses, either in-house or at a communications/creative agency.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Manage and execute an editorial content strategy aligned with business goals, target audiences, and SEO best practices.
2. Plan and oversee the content calendar to ensure a steady flow of high-quality content across multiple channels.
3. Lead the creation of various content types, including blogs, webpages, whitepapers, case studies, eBooks, reports, and videos.
4. Write, edit, and refine content to maintain a consistent brand voice and positioning.
5. Identify, brief, and manage external writers and freelance creators to support content development.
6. Optimise content for search engines (SEO), ensuring best practices for keyword targeting, on-page optimization, and backlink strategies.
7. Leverage insights from industry reports, research, trends, competitor content, and customer pain points to enhance content strategy.
8. Collaborate with digital marketing teams to track content performance using analytics tools and refine the strategy based on data insights.
9. Support the Product Marketing team in developing top-of-funnel content across multiple formats and channels.
10. Drive external discussions on key technology competencies and innovations in the warehouse automation industry.
11. Ensure consistency in messaging, tone of voice, and brand identity.
12. Develop deep domain knowledge of the Ocado Intelligent Automation portfolio.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Proven editorial experience in creating, developing, and deploying impactful content across various formats and platforms.
2. Strong storytelling abilities to distill complex technical and commercial content into engaging narratives, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, automation, electronics, mechanics, manufacturing, and logistics.
3. Deep understanding of digital content: what resonates, how it travels, and best practices for websites, social media, and SEO.
4. Exceptional attention to detail, with a keen eye for proofreading, language nuances, and ensuring the highest quality output.
5. Proven experience in implementing SEO best practices and techniques.
6. Experience working with a Topic Pillar and Cluster content model.
7. Proficiency in web analytics tools such as GA4 and Google Search Console.
8. Experience with SEO tools, particularly SEMRush.
9. Extensive experience in web content management and digital publishing.
10. Demonstrable experience delivering content for a B2B technology company.
11. Experience in the robotics and/or warehouse automation industry.
12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
13. Ability to quickly grasp and explain complex technical subjects and technologies.
14. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, working effectively with both internal and external teams.
15. Adaptability in style and approach to suit different stakeholders, clients, and situations.
16. High tech literacy and an early adopter of generative AI tools.
17. Experience working with creative teams.
18. Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
19. Experience with Google Suite, Slack, Adobe, and HubSpot.
20. Familiarity with Jira or similar project management tools.
21. Basic understanding of HTML and CSS.
