The role of the HCA is an essential part of the Primary Care team.
In conjunction with other members of the Primary Health Care team, to deliver care, health promotion, screening, and patient education in accordance with the practice guidelines and protocols.
To work with the nursing team to develop and assess new initiatives designed to improve the patient experience.
To ensure effective use of resources.
In collaboration with the Lead Practice Nurse and Management to ensure cost-effective ordering of drugs, vaccines, dressings, and surgical consumables.
Main duties of the job
1. Long term health condition health checks / Diabetes health check
2. ECG Recording
3. Venepuncture
4. Undertake wound care / dressings according to level trained.
5. Removal of sutures / clips
6. Chaperoning GP's as required.
7. Setting up and assisting GP's with minor operations and cleaning equipment.
8. Setting up and assisting GP's with IUCD insertions and removals and adding appropriate recalls.
9. Testing urine samples.
10. Processing and management of specimens.
11. Vaccine/cold chain storage monitoring and recording in clinic rooms at both sites.
12. Clearing and restocking all consulting rooms, re-ordering supplies for stock levels from Pathology department at the hospital.
