MUST BE ABLE TO HIT THE GROUND RUNNING WORKING INDEPENDENTLY ON A CASELOAD OF 25+ MATTERS WITH LIMITED SUPERVISION. MUST HAVE AWARENESS AND EXPERIENCE OF WORKING IN LOCAL AUTHORITY AND GOVERNANCE REQUIREMENTS.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage a varied caseload of governance matters.
2. Advise on the council's constitution, local government law, and practice.
3. Provide advice to officers on officer decision records and officer key decision records.
4. Prepare committee, cabinet, and council reports in accordance with the council's constitution, law, and practice.
Qualifications:
1. Qualified solicitor or equivalent experience.
2. Previous local authority experience is critical for this role.
Availability:
Ideally 3 days a week or more.
