* Experience working within an acute healthcare setting within the past 6 months
* Ability to work a minimum of 2 shifts in a rolling 3 month period and remain compliant with all essential training

* Completion of 5 days of induction within a week period

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will play an essential role in supporting the delivery of high-quality care to our patients, working alongside registered nurses and other healthcare professionals. Your role includes providing personal and intimate care and undertaking clinical observations. A Healthcare Support Worker will be competent to provide compassionate care to agreed quality standards.
You will be required to follow stringent policies such as infection control and manual handling policies and keep your clinical and non-clinical colleagues informed of outcomes. In addition, you will provide emotional and physical support to patients and their families, requiring an adaptable and flexible approach to changing situations.

Skills and Abilities
* 12 months acute healthcare experience
* Effective and appropriate communication skills both written and verbal
* Able to complete appropriate documentation accurately
* Demonstrate an awareness of healthcare work and policies and procedures
* Committed to providing high-quality patient care
* Ability to work with minimum supervision to a high standard
* Ability and willingness to undertake appropriate training within given time frames
* Flexible and adaptable to change, able to work a range of shifts and move across wards/units depending on clinical need
* Enthusiasm and commitment to working within the healthcare setting
* Able to meet the physical and developmental demands of the role
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience of providing care in a healthcare or social setting

Qualifications and Training
* One of the following: Level 3 (SCQF – 6): City and Guilds 3, NVQ 3, BTEC National Diploma, or equivalent experience
* Level 2 Functional skills in English and Maths, or equivalent
* Completion of Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (that maps to the Apprenticeship Standard for Senior Health Care Support Worker) or equivalent experience
