Overview
Arcus are recruiting a Building Fabric Trainer who will have responsibility for end-to-end technical (maintenance) training activity for colleagues up to senior management level, covering technical training needs analysis, design, delivery and evaluation and administration of all training delivery solutions.
Responsibilities
The trainer will be required to create an energetic and exciting technical learning environment, while ensuring working toward improving knowledge, skills and behaviours that are needed to drive a high performing culture.
Other responsibilities include:
1. Working with leaders and managers to identify training needs and trends within the business for areas of responsibility.
2. Support with the development of business wide training needs analysis, ensuring that a robust annual training programme is developed to meet the business core objectives.
3. Designing both in house and with expert third parties, a solution which includes a blended approach to learning, such as coaching, classroom training, on the job training, 121 sessions, social learning and virtual learning.
4. Engaging delivery of internal technical training courses.
5. Adherence to internal technical training processes and frameworks and support with associated audits as required.
6. Support a robust technical assessment solution to support the recruitment of new engineers.
7. Support with the management of the technical apprenticeship scheme for areas of responsibility.
8. Support with new business and mobilisations.
9. Provide regular reporting on technical training attendance and compliance using appropriate systems and/or reporting formats.
10. Provide support with achieving or upholding any relevant Arcus Accreditations.
11. Evaluate the effectiveness of all technical training solutions and their impact on the business.
12. Strict management of the technical development budget for their area, including identifying and delivering on opportunities to save costs.
Qualifications
You’d have the following qualifications:
1. A recognised apprenticeship or qualification in a Building Fabric/Maintenance discipline is desired but not essential.
2. Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent (desirable).
3. PAT Testing (desirable).
4. Approved Face Fit Tester (desirable).
5. Full driving licence.
You’d have the following experience:
1. Significant building fabric maintenance experience, ideally gained in a retail environment.
2. Substantial experience within a technical/maintenance role.
3. Experience of delivery of classroom, virtual and/or “on the job” learning is desirable.
You’d have the following knowledge:
1. Must possess knowledge of a range of maintenance activities and applications to an advanced level. These will include but not be limited to the following elements: Groundworks/Civils, Bricklaying, Joinery, Plastering, Tiling, Floor Repairs, Locksmithing, Roofing, Pest Proofing, Fire Doors, Carpentry, Basic Plumbing, Ladders and Abrasive Wheels etc.
2. Must be willing to upskill as necessary, through qualification and/or experience, to enable diversification and expansion of subject matter delivery, as required by the business or as identified for personal development.
You’d have the following skills:
1. It’s desirable that you have some experience in delivering training.
2. Excellent presentation skills.
3. Excellent communication skills, ability to influence and use diplomacy with clients and colleagues.
4. Significant experience in the industry at the grade of technician or higher.
5. Ability to facilitate technicians in a pressurised environment.
6. Committed to delivering exceptional customer service.
7. Actively contributes to the team’s targets either individually or by supporting others.
8. Capable of prioritising a complex and demanding workload.
9. Proficient IT skills.
10. Flexibility and willingness to learn.
In return for your hard work, we would offer you:
1. Salary: £43,000 per annum, depending on experience.
