An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Specialist Safeguarding Practitioner to join the Safeguarding Children and Adult's Team within Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT). The post will be based at Daisyfield Mill, Blackburn, acting as a point of contact for the Bay and Fylde Coast; however, there is an expectation that staff would be able to travel to other LSCFT bases as required.
The main remit of this post will be to provide safeguarding input within services in the Bay and Fylde Coast area, and we are looking for a nurse with experience of working with safeguarding issues in their current role.
Working within a multi-professional/agency context, the successful applicant will provide expert training, supervision, and advice to health and social care practitioners on a wide range of safeguarding issues that impact on children, young people, adults, and their families. The role will be underpinned by a sound knowledge of the legal frameworks that shape the safeguarding agenda including The Children Act (1989, 2004), The Care Act (2014), The Mental Health Act (1983), and The Mental Capacity Act (2005).
Safeguarding is integral to governance arrangements within LSCFT, and we are looking for someone with leadership experience and a track record in providing high standards of care to the most vulnerable children and adults in our society.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will support the development of single and multi-agency safeguarding policies, procedures, and clinical practice, ensuring practice is current and up to date in line with local and national priorities. The applicant will be required to support organisational safeguarding arrangements, contribute to the trust's quality and assurance framework, and support the team in fulfilling statutory safeguarding duties outlined by the Think Family Safeguarding Agenda.
The post holder will work closely with the Named Nurses and Named Professionals for Safeguarding Children, Adults, and MCA to ensure appropriate quality assurance mechanisms are in place and to assist in the development of skills and competencies of the LSCFT workforce.
Safeguarding is a valued and integral part of multi-disciplinary working across the Trust, and the post involves opportunities to contribute to wider practice development and initiatives in line with a new locality model and Integrated Care Partnerships (ICP). The successful applicant must demonstrate a passion for safeguarding children, adults, and their families and share the team's commitment to deliver services that are reliable, of high quality, and safe in an area of work that is demanding, challenging yet extremely rewarding.
