Job Description
Please note this is a hybrid role (2-3 days) based out of the Edinburgh office.
You will join a high-performing team of developers and will be primarily working on the backend, taking responsibility for implementing a range of new application features, as well as improving the performance, scalability, and modularity of the existing product.
Responsibilities
1. Execute the full software development lifecycle and provide support for each assigned project, adhering to company standards and expectations.
2. Apply software development practices to produce clean, modular, scalable, and testable code for the Java backend.
3. Apply testing and debugging methods to resolve complex software issues.
4. Work collaboratively with local and distributed teams in an Agile environment to enhance the product.
Basic Requirements
Required skills and qualifications:
5. 3+ years of hands-on backend software development (we use Java).
6. Solid understanding of object oriented programming, design patterns, and core software engineering principles.
7. Experience creating meaningful automated tests (we use JUnit).
8. Knowledge of testing and debugging software issues.
9. Experience working with relational databases (we use Postgres).
10. Knowledge of ORM technologies such as Hibernate/JPA.
11. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred skills and qualifications:
12. Bachelor/Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject.
13. Experience working with Java, JAX-RS, Spring or similar technologies.
14. Experience with microservices architecture.
15. Previous working experience in an Agile environment (Scrum).
