This is a great opportunity to join the Wolverhampton logistics team as a Team Leader. The purpose of this role is to manage a team of 22 and oversee sample collection and co-ordination of routes to ensure efficient use of company drivers’ time and maximise possible return of samples to laboratories and the driving team.
Please note this is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday 08:30 - 16:30.
Responsibilities
* Oversee sample collection and co-ordination of routes to ensure efficient use of company drivers’ time.
* Oversee the daily routes and suggest where improvements can be made.
* Daily management of the 22 Logistics drivers for Wolverhampton, as well as covering holidays/sickness for Grimsby and Heathrow.
* Liaison with third party chilled couriers to facilitate an efficient daily collections plan.
* Internal communication with other Eurofins departments regarding managing and distributing consumables.
* Co-ordination of the logistics team holidays and sickness cover.
* Out of hours cover for logistics mobile phone outside normal working hours.
* Collation of monthly logistics collections report.
* Monitoring of drivers' driving behaviour via the Big Change/Samsara system, reporting inappropriate driving behaviour to the UK Logistics Manager.
* Update the Big Change system with the latest collection and delivery information.
* Effective management of the Eurofins fleet, ensuring all vans are serviced and MOT’d to requirements.
* Taking vans to garages where required.
* Ensuring highest standards of Health and Safety are maintained across the logistics team, reporting and investigating accidents on the H&S system.
* Assisting the Logistics Manager with recruitment and induction of new drivers.
* Monitor third party courier costs to ensure they are effectively controlled through effective use of resources.
* Co-operate with the investigation and resolution of customer issues relating to their business unit.
* Cover for the Logistics Manager where required.
* Maintain high standards of temperature control through the calibration of probes and profiling of vans.
* Potential travel to other sites nationwide for meetings/overnight stays.
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level, or equivalent.
* Logistics or transport planning background.
* Experience working in a busy transport office & stock control environments.
* Experience in supervision of teams.
* Working knowledge of MS Office and Outlook.
* Full UK Driving license.
* Customer-focused, values-driven individual with integrity.
* Great communication skills both verbal and written across all ability levels.
* Highly organized with good attention to detail.
* Excellent people management skills.
* Ability to be resilient, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
