The role involves designing mechanical systems up to the concept stage, ensuring compliance with business, statutory, legal, and contractual requirements for government programs. It includes technical assurance management to ensure design principles are maintained throughout development and construction phases. Responsibilities also include assisting clients in tender processes, conducting condition surveys, and facilitating project handovers.
This position requires a passion for building services, a proactive problem-solving attitude, and a commitment to delivering well-engineered projects. The work involves engaging with government and public frameworks, developing key operational and embodied carbon strategies, and overseeing project delivery as a client technical advisor.
You'll be responsible for:
* Managing deliverables personally and through direct reports.
* Providing design input and managing the development of designs according to contract requirements.
* Collaborating with other design disciplines, client personnel, and construction teams.
* Assisting in producing reporting information.
* Participating in client meetings and design workshops as needed.
* Ensuring the quality, scope, and timeliness of work outputs from direct reports.
* Managing training, appraisals, salary reviews, and career development for direct reports.
* Developing the team in areas such as contract to pay (C2P), digital, and net zero carbon, aligning with company directives.
* Engaging in business improvement initiatives.
* Contributing to the net zero carbon transition by proactively managing associated emissions and reductions during project delivery.
You'll need to have:
* Chartered status or working towards it.
* Proven ability to act as a technical advisor for clients and challenge non-compliant designs.
* Good knowledge of statutory regulations and standards.
* Technical competence and basic knowledge of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
* Expertise in heating, ventilation, cooling systems, water services, and natural gas.
