THIS COULD BE YOUR NEW ROLE - We are seeking a highly capable and driven Principal Civil Engineer to lead the delivery of non-infrastructure water sector projects across the UK. This is a strategic technical leadership role, responsible for driving quality, ensuring compliance, and mentoring our engineering team. You will act as a technical authority and project lead, working closely with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project outcomes from feasibility through to detailed design and construction support. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee the civil design and delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects. Design RC elements, foundations, slabs, and associated civil works. Produce technical reports, specifications, and construction drawings to industry standards. Conduct site visits for inspections, surveys, and technical support during construction. Provide technical governance, review, and sign-off on design deliverables across multiple projects. Develop and implement engineering solutions that are cost-effective, buildable, and compliant with UK standards. Guide and mentor senior and junior engineers, developing technical capability across the team. Represent the business in client meetings, design reviews, and technical workshops. Coordinate and integrate civil designs with mechanical, electrical, and process engineering disciplines. Manage project budgets, programmes, and resource planning in collaboration with project managers. Support business development through input to proposals, bids, and strategic planning. Drive quality assurance, health & safety, and continuous improvement across all design activities. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practice, regulations, and innovations in the water sector. Champion a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the organisation. What We're Looking For BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent). Chartered Engineer (CEng) with relevant professional body (E.g. ICE, IStructE, CIWEM). Ideally 10 years' experience in the UK water sector. Proven track record in delivering non-infrastructure projects. Strong leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skill. High-level technical competence in civil design, analysis, and construction methodologies Excellent understanding of UK design standards, Eurocodes, and water industry regulations. Proficient in design tools (e.g., Tekla, TEDDS, STAAD, AutoCAD) and experienced in checking and approving engineering deliverables. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel if required.
