Behaviour Support Assistant
Veritas is currently working with several partner schools across Sheffield and Rotherham to support SEMH students. They are looking to recruit a Behaviour Support Assistant to support students from primary to secondary age.
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you must show a talent for dealing with challenging behaviour, demonstrate a level of resilience while at work, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with both young learners and staff.
Throughout this role, you will need to demonstrate effective behaviour management techniques, build rapport and trust with young SEN learners to de-escalate incidents, promote learner growth, and create a safe educational environment.
These positions require you to be experienced in supporting pupils and young adults with challenging behaviours. Depending on the role and your experiences, you could be working alongside learners who demonstrate high risk and challenging behaviour; it is your responsibility to guide them through their learning and help manage and regulate their behaviour.
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you are responsible for working alongside teachers, managers, and other classroom staff to support the learners and young adults in a constructive and controlled learning environment, both inside the classroom and around the setting.
The Role:
1. Creating a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment for the learners and young adults involved.
2. Working within a supportive staff grouping where everyone follows the same standards and ethos.
3. Gaining first-hand experience within the SEN/SEMH sector.
Requirements:
1. Enhanced DBS on the update service (We can advise on this).
2. Enhanced DBS clearance.
3. Right to work in the UK.
4. Photo identification.
5. 2 satisfactory references.
6. Experience working with SEMH/SEN students with challenging behaviour.
Ideal Candidate:
1. A varied knowledge of the national curriculum and basic classroom learning strategies.
2. The ability to apply sensible and suitable behaviour management strategies when dealing with challenging/high-risk behaviour.
3. The ability to build trustworthy relationships, both with learners/young adults and staff within a team.
