About the Role
As a member of the wider Surety EMEA Team, you will be based in London as part of a small but dynamic team of experienced underwriters, focused on profit-oriented underwriting for both UK and European accounts. Our team is focused on building relationships with key partners in the large corporate and upper middle-market segments to further support the growth of our existing surety book globally.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Analyse new business opportunities by accurately assessing credit and transactional risks, legal due diligence, following Swiss Re's processes and guidelines.
2. Acquire and independently handle client relationships, originate and process business opportunities with particular focus on client's needs and quality of service.
3. Develop account strategies to adapt position on existing accounts to expand our market footprint and monitor and steer own client portfolio.
4. Prepare quality submissions and present your perspectives in front of committees and fellow decision makers with confidence and passion.
5. Regularly meet and interact with clients, brokers and professional service providers to gather relevant information on market trends and opportunities.
6. Mentor and advise younger professionals or Junior Underwriters as the need arises.
About You
We are looking for an open-minded, hard-working, trustworthy and enthusiastic team player who can constructively and respectfully engage in challenging conversations. To be successful, you need to have strong communication, negotiation and partnering skills. Are you at ease with leaving the comfort zone and performing under pressure? Do you consider yourself to be a "self-starter", able and willing to take initiative and implement measures in a goal-oriented manner with:
* 7+ years of relevant working experience, preferably with a surety or a bank.
* Experience in dealing with multinational corporations and providing surety & guarantee solutions to large and mid-sized corporate customers.
* Excellent understanding of financial markets including debt financing, capital market instruments, and industry knowledge.
* Ability to navigate through legal documents, understand financial statements, assess underlying corporate credit risk and confidently present your recommendations.
* Curiosity, agility and ability to develop and present tailored solutions.
* Knowledge of a foreign language would be a plus.
