The role entails but is not limited to: As part of the multi-disciplinary team, provide complementary therapy services across all service areas including outpatients, inpatients and community as required. Providing a range of individualised complementary therapy to patients and carers. Undertaking thorough holistic assessments of patients and carers across all services. Identifying physical, emotional, social and spiritual need. Identifying contraindications, precautions and indications for treatment and treating patients and carers safely and appropriately. Document care given within electronic patient notes according to recognised standards. To observe changes in the patients condition and feedback as required to the multi-disciplinary team. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings/handovers as required. Laundering and replenishing equipment, ensure adequate supplies for service delivery, maintaining appropriate stock levels of supplies. Take part in or lead therapeutic groups as required. Undertake and deliver education activities and audit as appropriate. To assist with the development and implementation of complementary therapy policies, procedures and standards. Maintain membership of appropriate professional association such as the Federation of Holistic Therapists. To assess own learning needs and identify opportunities to address these. To attend mandatory training when required. To keep up to date with local and national developments in complementary therapy in palliative care. Take part in clinical supervision and appraisal process. Work with HR in the recruitment and selection of volunteers, including providing inductions for Complementary Therapy volunteers. Supervise, assign caseloads and support complementary therapy volunteers, monitoring their caseloads to ensure safe and effective delivery of care. Maintain confidentially of sensitive and patient information. Participate in the assessment of risk and thereby contribute towards clinical and corporate governance agenda as appropriate. Produce work of a high standard and with accuracy and attention to detail. Keep updated on all matters relating to Hospice policy.
