Within the ward, we provide care for inpatients with a range of gynaecological conditions, including those in early pregnancy. We also have an emergency assessment unit attached to the ward to provide timely management of various gynaecological urgent conditions. The position will require working as a Sister / Charge Nurse within an acute gynaecology ward and emergency assessment unit, taking charge when required while ensuring the high standards of the Trust are met and maintained through the implementation and evaluation of nursing care.
An element of this role will be as a clinical educator, demonstrating specialist knowledge and skills commensurate with a clinical expert and effective leader, serving as a role model, an agent of change, and facilitator of work-based learning. This includes:
1. Ensuring compliance with the Trust's Equality and Diversity Policy.
2. Keeping up to date with NMC, relevant specialist Faculty & Trust guidelines and protocols.
3. Adhering to the NMC Code of Professional conduct and maintaining agreed levels of competence.

15. Being a visible presence in clinical areas, demonstrating exemplary standards of clinical care and education.
16. Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of all learning interventions.
17. Administering medication and treatment within Procedure for the Ordering, Prescribing and Administration of Medication Guidelines.
18. Participating in mentorship and educational programmes for students and other members of the team.
19. Providing clinical area support and supervision for staff/learners undergoing specific training.
20. Being actively involved in ensuring that the environment is conducive to the learning and development of staff.
21. Undertaking clinical shifts and at least one clinical education shift each week.
22. Adhering to all Trust policies and procedures and professional code of conduct.
23. Supporting the senior nurse in recruitment, retention, and performance-related issues.
24. Inputting and retrieving patient and staff information from computer-based systems and maintaining accurate patient records.
25. Providing clinical leadership that inspires and motivates others.
26. Liaising with other team members to ensure policies and protocols are in place for expert care.
27. Completing daily audits and checks to help maintain and improve quality standards.
28. Being actively involved in the setting up and maintaining of educational programmes.
29. Taking personal responsibility for lifelong learning and personal development.
30. Supporting the planning, co-ordination, and delivery of nurse education and training.
31. Identifying the educational needs of staff regarding gynaecology and participating in the planning, organisation, and delivery of educational programs.
32. Supporting the provision of cancer education and training for all grades and disciplines of staff.
33. Attending mandatory lectures and training as set out in the Trust guidelines.
34. Providing the highest standard of evidence-based, patient-centred care.
35. Having an extensive knowledge of gynaecological conditions and recent clinical experience in a gynaecology setting.
36. Demonstrating ongoing professional development through maintenance of a professional portfolio.
37. Having a Post Graduate teaching certificate or willingness to work towards one.
38. Demonstrating enhanced IT skills.
39. Acting as a role model and resource for all staff.
40. Participating in own and team's personal and professional development.
41. Demonstrating understanding of research and evidence-based practice.
42. Maintaining contemporaneous and accurate treatment records.
