The Production and Material Planning Manager is responsible for leading the site's daily planning activities, managing production performance, driving operational efficiency, and working closely with suppliers to optimize material costs and inventory levels. This role is pivotal in ensuring our supply chain operates smoothly and efficiently to meet customer needs and business objectives. This position reports to the Global Supply Planning Director and is part of the supply chain and manufacturing team in Cambridge. It will be on site. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: - Lead daily production and material planning activities, ensuring all requirements are fulfilled. - Manage production performance data to drive efficiencies and collaborate with site heads to address improvements. - Proactively manage risks in the supply chain, including addressing slippages and bottlenecks. - Set and manage raw material and inventory levels to optimize cash flow and improve stock turns. - Work with procurement to identify and execute raw material cost savings. - Lead and develop a team of material and production planners, while sponsoring process improvement initiatives. - Oversee performance management, conduct appraisals, and facilitate professional development to foster employee growth. The essential requirements of the job include: - Master's degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience. - Minimum of 6 years of experience in a supply chain role within a manufacturing environment. - Expertise in production/material planning, production scheduling, and supplier management. - High-level proficiency with ERP/MRP systems like SAP or Oracle. - Strong leadership and data analysis skills, including experience with data visualization tools like Tableau. It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: - Similar life science industry or other high mix low volume environment - High-level continuous improvement training (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
