Your new role
We are urgently seeking a Civil Engineer to assist the Senior Civil Engineers in producing designs, modelling, and preparing technical drawings. This role focuses on the civil engineering aspects of large and complex building projects. You will be working with the Belfast Structural Team, which delivers work locally, nationally, and globally, offering technical support to the wider business.
Key responsibilities:
1. Report and work closely with Senior/Principal Engineers, supporting the team and wider business to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to a high standard.
2. Provide a high-standard, client-focused service that ensures ongoing satisfaction and repeat business.
3. Apply the procedures and protocols of the company’s quality assurance system to your working approach and project delivery.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for the Civil Engineering position, you should hold a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and have at least 5 years of experience in multidisciplinary projects. Ideal candidates will have consultancy experience and be proficient in designing storm and foul drainage systems, including Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) and water storage solutions, preferably using Micro-Drainage or similar software. Alternatively, candidates with expertise in designing roads and pavements, including creating sub-base layers for various ground conditions and ground improvement, will also be considered.
You should be knowledgeable about obtaining necessary approvals for discharge consents and applying these requirements to civil designs. Effective communication with regulatory bodies to gather information and guidelines for compliant designs is essential. Additionally, you should understand the basics of building structures and their service needs, particularly in designing and specifying civil engineering infrastructure for entire sites.
