In addition to the salary, this role attracts enhanced payments of time and half for all weekend hours, as the role involves a work pattern that includes weekend working.
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Cook to work at the Old School House Residential in Beverley. This is a permanent role, working 32 hours per week over Monday to Sunday on a rota basis.
We are seeking someone with extensive experience in catering and working in a busy kitchen to lead our catering service to provide nutritious and appetising meals for our residents.
The ideal candidate will hold a catering qualification, such as an NVQ Level 2 or above in Food Preparation, and Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene in Catering. Although the opportunity will be provided for successful candidates to gain the Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene in Catering within 12 weeks of starting the role if they do not already hold it.
You should have a good knowledge of allergen legislation and a working knowledge of the Government’s Food Standards. A knowledge of special dietary needs and nutritional requirements is preferred, but further training will be provided to support this.
You will need to be a team player who can work to a high standard, whilst possessing the appropriate supervisory skills to manage a kitchen. You will also need to be approachable, flexible, and committed to providing and developing the meal service further.
You will be responsible for the preparation, cooking, and service of food daily.
The service takes the responsibility of safeguarding those who attend the service very seriously, and the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
