Part-Time Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 41-year-old woman living in supported housing in the Pontypridd area. I have a learning disability and epilepsy which is well controlled with medication. I also have osteopenia which means I can’t do high impact exercise because my bones are thin. I am happy and active. I like to be out and about doing a variety of activities including swimming and shopping. I particularly enjoy horse riding which is a regular commitment. I like to learn new skills and enjoy attending different classes some of which are only accessible by car due to time constraints. I currently attend various classes during the week. I am looking for a personal assistant to support me for 2 days a week helping me to learn new things and also to help me maintain skills I already have.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The purpose of the job is to provide me with support to attend classes and activities I enjoy and to help me develop and maintain skills and friendships.
RATE(S) OF PAY
£12.00 per hour.
Mileage will be paid at 40p per mile.
HOURS OF WORK
There are a total of 12 hours a week to be used over 2 days.
Monday and Thursday 9:30am-3:30pm.
There may be the need to work additional days to cover sickness or annual leave.
TASKS CAN INCLUDE
· Taking me out to activities I choose
· Helping me stay safe while encouraging me to make decisions
· Supporting me to learn new skills
· Finding new courses for me to attend
· Working with me at home to help me maintain skills I have learned
· Some personal care tasks
· Attending appropriate training
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
· A full clean driving licence is essential, with the option of the use of my mobility car.
· Someone patient and understanding who will help me to make decisions for myself
· Someone fun and active who is willing to try new things
· Someone who will motivate and encourage me
· Someone proactive who will use their own initiative to find new things for me to do
· Someone who will be committed to the job
· Someone reliable and punctual
· Someone flexible who will be able to cover holidays and sickness
· Preferably female (due to personal care) with similar interests
· Non-smoker/vaper
ABOUT THE JOB
This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.
All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.
Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period.
Wages will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
