Job Opportunity
YZUP at WithYou is the commissioned Young Persons Drug and Alcohol Service for 11-18 year olds across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We have a vacancy for two Young Persons Workers covering the Mid part of the county. The purpose of the role is to screen and assess referrals that come into the service and then co-produce a Care Plan with the young person to be worked on throughout their treatment journey. Our Treatment Model is developmentally informed and uses the stages of Adolescent Development to underpin the range of psycho social interventions the worker offers to the young person.
You will be expected to:
* Screen and assess access young people
* Co-produce the Treatment Care Plan with the young person and review goal setting regularly
* Deliver a range of psycho social interventions such as Harm Reduction information, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focussed Therapy, CBT based interventions, etc
* Complete case management information/data and outcome monitoring
* Be part of a multi-agency safeguarding team around the child and attend any relevant planning meetings
Interviews are due to take place towards the end of April 2025.
Essential Skills
We are looking for someone who is an experienced Youth Worker but who has additional knowledge of substance misuse/mental health issues affecting young people.
* Have an ONC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent or be willing to complete within 12 months
* Have demonstrable experience of working in the youth work, education, social care or criminal justice setting and of working in partnership with a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies
* Have an understanding of the issues facing young people being affected by familial substance misuse and/or experiencing difficulties with their own use of substances
* Have awareness and understanding of harm minimisation in substance misuse treatment and to work in a trauma-informed way
* Have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
* Be highly organised and practical with proven IT skills
* Good oral and written communication skills
* Be able to engage well with and have proven 1:1 skills with young people
* Be able to work on your own and in a team environment
* Have a good understanding of the safeguarding process
* Have experience in Risk Assessment and complex case work
But most importantly a real passion for working with young people to help enable them to reach their potential.
