Dry Shipping Litigator (Junior, 3-5 PQE)
Our client, a leading organisation in the shipping industry, is seeking a sharp and commercially minded Dry Shipping Litigator to join their team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a junior litigator with 3-5 years PQE to bring their expertise in charterparty claims to a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage a high volume of charterparty claims, including demurrage, deadfreight, off-hire, and general damages.
* Negotiate settlements and find pragmatic solutions to avoid formal proceedings while aggressively pursuing claims.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide legal advice on disputes and claims resolution strategies.
* Ensure timely and efficient handling of claims, with a focus on commercial outcomes.
Key Requirements:
* Qualified lawyer with 3-5 years PQE in dry shipping litigation, gained at a London firm or with relevant in-house experience (e.g., owner, charterer, major trader, or club).
* Strong understanding of charterparty disputes and associated claims.
* Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple claims simultaneously.
* Excellent negotiation skills with a focus on achieving commercial resolutions.
* Robust, pragmatic, and commercially astute, with the ability to balance aggressive claims management with strategic avoidance of formal proceedings.
