Category Manager, De’Longhi Group (De’Longhi, Kenwood and Braun Household)
Closing Date - 28th February 2025
A Category Manager role we think you’ll like.
This is a Fixed Term (Maternity Cover expected to be for a 1 year duration)
Brands, impact, responsibility, ambitious growth targets: our new Category Manager role ticks all the boxes for an exciting and challenging future.
You’ll work with leading brands and products that anyone can get excited about. You’ll have a broad remit that will challenge you and allow you to flex your skills.
And you’ll have the opportunity to make your mark in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment as you help us lead in categories across our UK subsidiary.
The role
As a De’Longhi Group Category Manager, you’ll help us make an impact for globally-renowned brands. You’ll set the vision and direction for a specific category of small domestic appliance products, managing a portfolio of brands to maximise returns for our subsidiary and retail channels.
This role offers a fun and engaging mix of commercial portfolio, brand management and brand marketing, so not only will it keep you on your toes and allow you to grow your marketing skills, but for many professionals with category management experience, it will represent a step up in scope, breadth and challenge.
You’ll report into the Category Marketing Manager, working closely with cross functional internal teams including Shopper Marketing, Omni-Channel, Commercial & National Account teams and more as well as retailers, data and media agencies.
Key responsibilities
1. Full ownership and management of the total portfolio of products within the categories – NPD roadmap & existing range performance.
2. Provide detailed direction and own the total category volume forecast, cross referencing this to the market share commitments, market and price segment dynamics and overall growth ambition.
3. Sets overall category direction and develops multi-channel marketing plans, interfacing with Omni Channel Marketing team, including Social & Influencer Lead, and Shopper Marketing team to flawlessly activate plans.
4. Leads proactive approach to ensure range performance is optimised across the retail accounts through a rolling 12 month promotion plan.
5. Manages the whole portfolio of SKUs, lifecycle, NPD sign off process & effective SKU exits.
6. Deeply understands Gfk Market, Price Segment, target audience, shopper journey & competitor trends to set out targets and opportunities for each product, retailer and channel.
7. Leads retailer range review preparation and delivery to support the product ranging priorities and influence the buying teams with compelling presentations.
8. Liaises with Global Trade Marketing to provide Product Images, Videos & Features/Benefits Text for Retail Execution, and all Assets for Consumer communication.
9. Main point of contact for the group of categories with our key agency partners (PR, Media, Advertising).
10. Ownership of advertising and promotional budget for the brand.
About you
This role would suit someone with a background in FMCG brand/category management and/or consumer marketing, ideally with experience of managing multiple products/categories, media agencies, writing briefs and managing budgets. Marketing qualifications (CIM, marketing degree or equivalent) will be a distinct advantage. You could be a brand manager looking for your next challenge, or hoping to step up into a more senior role.
You’ll interface at Group and European MD level, influencing NPD colleagues in Italy & Germany as well as internal sales team colleagues and retailers, so it’s critically important that you’re able to communicate with gravitas and persuasion - not least because you’ll be required to present frequently to a variety of stakeholders.
You’ll be a confident, outgoing individual who enjoys collaborating with others and views success as a collective effort to be shared and enjoyed by the team. And as our UK subsidiary is fast-paced, you’ll need to be comfortable making decisions quickly and turning them into actionable strategy.
There is a possibility that the right graduate, with exceptional talent and demonstrable (relevant) achievements in a commercial placement could learn the role at a more junior level.
Though largely office-based (at our Havant HQ), under normal circumstances this role will involve some travel for retail meetings across the UK, with occasional trips within Europe, so a driver’s licence and willingness to travel are essential.
What’s in it for you?
As an employee of The De’Longhi Group, you’ll enjoy the backing and resources of a major global brand, combined with the entrepreneurial spirit and responsiveness of an innovative business that can make decisions quickly. We’re flexible, responsive and able to quickly test new ideas, which means we have a lot of fun in all our marketing roles.
