We have an exciting opportunity here at Leeds Teaching Hospitals due to an expansion of our rota. We are recruiting 2 Trust Grade Doctor (Level ST3+) post within the second largest Major Trauma Centre in the UK based at the Leeds General Infirmary. This appointment is for 6 months starting April 2025.
Main duties of the job
The posts have been designed for experienced doctors wishing to pursue a career in Trauma and Orthopaedics. We offer exposure to polytrauma and trauma Orthopaedic surgery aligned with excellent training opportunities. You will be allocated an educational supervisor to help guide your career aspirations and to maximise educational opportunities, you will have the opportunity to access medical expertise in a wide variety of disciplines.
The applicant must have full GMC registration with license to practice, a minimum of two years previous experience in trauma and orthopaedic surgery, a minimum of 12 months experience as a doctor in the NHS, valid ATLS certification and must have full MRCS or equivalent.
The post holder will work with a team of surgeons to provide inpatient care for both trauma and elective patients. The post holder will be on a 24 hour partial shift, on the third tier supporting the FY1/2, and ST1/2 doctors.

All trauma is admitted to the Leeds General Infirmary and elective work is undertaken at Chapel Allerton Hospital, approximately 3 miles from the Infirmary. The Trust Grade Doctor will be expected to work at both sites.

Duties of the Post
To ensure high quality and safe care of Orthopaedic patients resulting in excellent clinical outcomes. To contribute directly to patient care by, for example, reviewing patients, organising investigations and acting on results, initiating and changing treatment, and speaking to and involving patients in their care and management and keeping patients and their relatives/carers updated about their clinical progress.
To undertake essential administrative duties, including prescribing, writing electronic discharge letters, and liaising with colleagues in primary care to facilitate safe and appropriate discharges.
To contribute to a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, working collaboratively with a large team of allied healthcare professionals, including the Early Discharge Assessment Team, specialist nurses and physiotherapists.
Person Specification
Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills
* Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice 2 YEARS IN ORTHOPAEDICS Eligibility to work in the UK

* Capacity to operate effectively under pressure & remain objective in highly emotive/pressurised situations Aware of own limitations & when to ask for help
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration and hold a license to practice MB ChB (or equivalent), MRCS ATLS
Clinical Experience and Career Progression
* Previous experience 1 years at registrar level in Orthopaedics. Previous experience in the subspecialist areas identified for these posts
