Role Overview We are seeking a dynamic Commercial Accountant to lead a team of financial accounting consultants and collaborate closely with the wider team on client projects in delivering exceptional products and services to a diverse client portfolio. In this role, you will guide clients through complex accounting and transactional processes, leveraging cloud technologies alongside your expertise in bookkeeping and accounting. This position requires a minimum of 2 days per week onsite with clients and working cross-functionally with our systems and applications specialists to ensure the best solutions are delivered to clients. Key Responsibilities: Lead, develop, and coach a team to deliver high-standard outsourced accounting and reporting for clients. Implement and manage processes for documentation, testing, and reviews before client release. Support the MD in growing the customer portfolio by introducing new clients and offering innovative solutions to existing customers. Analyse e-commerce accounting activities and transactions, providing detailed reconciliation reports. Create regular management reports from accounting records and systems, including forecasts and budgets, with experience in tools such as Fathom, Futrli, Power BI, or similar. Conduct client-facing activities to support financial and accounting analysis, business advice, and forecasting and collaborate with clients to uphold exemplary standards. Manage and operate ERP systems such as NetSuite, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar. Contribute to accounting software platform integrations and implementation for clients. Prepare and review Sales Tax/VAT returns; UK VAT experience is essential (EU and ROW experience is a plus). Key Experience and Attributes Experience in SME Accounting desirable: You will have a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities within small businesses and the flexibility needed to adapt to varying client needs. Leadership and Team Management: Proven experience leading and mentoring a small team of accountants, data analysts, or financial professionals. Client-Facing and Advisory Skills: Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with clients, offering tailored financial advice and insight to help their business thrive. Cloud Accounting Platforms: Hands-on experience with cloud-based accounting tools such as Xero, QuickBooks, or similar, with a solid understanding of how these systems can streamline processes for SMEs. Financial Reporting & Analysis: Experience in preparing management reports, forecasts, and budgets, with the ability to simplify complex financial data and present it to non-financial stakeholders. VAT & Tax Knowledge: A strong understanding of UK VAT regulations (EU and ROW experience is a plus), with practical experience in preparing VAT returns and managing tax compliance. E-commerce & Transaction Analysis desirable: Familiarity with analyzing accounting transactions in the e-commerce space and preparing reconciliation reports for clients in this sector. Systems Implementation and Integration: Experience with implementing or supporting the integration of accounting software and business systems within an SME environment. Process Improvement: Demonstrated ability to introduce and manage processes to improve efficiency, quality, and accuracy. Working Pattern: Monday to Friday -hybrid working available. Our preference is 1 day at home and 4 days in the office.
