We have an excellent opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our expanding project team. Ideally having experience of working in a medium to heavy engineering / manufacturing environment with a passion for Mechanical Design.
The role of the Mechanical Design Engineer will have experience and knowledge (both practical & theoretical) of fabrication and machine processes, contribute to reducing plant downtime; improve plant performance and reliability by identifying and implementing engineering solutions.
What will the duties be?
* Responsible for full scale cradle to grave mechanical design engineering projects
* Assist in all technical aspects of project work from process improvements to capital installations
* Produce clear and accurate designs in line with the project specification, budget constraints and associated standards, job specific and per legislation
* Ensure that designs are completed to the required standard within the project timescale
* Interact and liaise with inter-departments, communication of efficient and accurate design information
* Producing concept designs and supporting calculations
* Provide assistance with managing external contractors ensuring all aspects of a project are communicated including H&S, site/working practices etc
What knowledge, experience and qualifications do I need?
* Minimum HNC/HND or above in Mechanical Engineering. Use of SolidWorks, with knowledge of AutoCAD (desirable)
* Heavy/medium mechanical engineering equipment
* Ideally come from an Engineering background and will be fully proficient in SolidWorks, and it would be advantageous for the Draughtsman to have knowledge of structural, steelwork and fabrication
* An excellent appreciation of practical mechanical engineering; complimented with theoretical approaches
* Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and drafting of layouts
* Design and calculations for structural, steelwork and fabricated systems
* Experience on a range of plant machines desirable, cranes, crushers, conveyors
* Computer literacy is essential (MS Office, proficient in use of CAD tools, ideally Solid Works)
