The post holder will work closely with the Directorate Manager, Deputy Directorate Manager, Associate Directorate Manager and Clinical Director to ensure that Paediatric and Neonatal services are responsive, innovative and meet performance and quality targets and standards, including financial and operational management of the services.
The post holder will need to problem solve as appropriate and develop and implement lasting solutions in conjunction with clinical, managerial, and administrative duties.
The post holder will be expected to exercise initiative, prioritise conflicting work demands and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the multi-disciplinary team, internal departments and external partners to ensure continuity in achieving excellence in patient care.
Main duties of the job
1. Providing overall management support to the paediatric service on behalf of the Directorate Manager (DM), Clinical Director and Matron (SMT).
2. Utilise effective change management, people management and project management skills to support implementation of projects across specialty.
3. Support SMT with performance management systems to ensure service meets agreed specification including waiting times and other local and national targets.
4. Analyse and use performance management data to support the SMT to inform and improve service delivery.
5. Contribute to implementation of service redesign.
6. Participate in service reviews to ensure all services fit for purpose in accordance with corporate objectives.
7. Support processes for collection, collation and submission of KPIs
8. Lead on/provide management support to SMT as required in relation to recruitment of staff.
Provide up to date information reassurance data for PTL Meeting on behalf of the DM highlighting potential problem areas by specialty.
* Line management of Paediatric Administration coordinators. In conjunction with the SMT, monitor access targets, proving weekly updates/reports and monitor agreed actions to ensure delivery.
* Support the rota coordinator to escalate and action appropriate solutions for Doctors Sickness Absence or unavailability.

Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Qualifications
* Degree level education or equivalent experience.
* Evidence of further study and professional development to post graduate diploma level or equivalent experience.
* Management, professional or other recognised academic or vocational qualification.
Knowledge
* Proven operational management skills.
* Good understanding of the changing Health and Social Care environment, including adult NHS medicine services in an acute Trust.
* Experience in people management and application of HR policies and procedures
* Understanding of financial management with ability to analyse and interpret data and statistics e.g. activity trends, financial data
