Mobile Sludge Thickener Operator
Annual salary of £39,497 and eligible for a performance bonus.
12-hour working pattern over 4-days (4 on, 4 off) - this includes weekend working, start times around 4.30am. (No planned nights out!)

Water Recycling is at the heart of our operations. The key services that we are responsible for are delivered by our in-house, highly skilled workforce. We collect and treat the water that customers have used, returning it to the environment via rivers and coastal outlets. Our network includes 76,000 kilometres of sewers which feed over 1,000 water recycling centres. What you will be doing?
As a Mobile Sludge Operator, you will be travelling to various sites, operating pumps and other machinery. You will also be efficiently thickening sludge and coordinating collections, and will help to reduce our tankering costs and CO2 emissions, supporting us to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2030!
Key duties include:
* Undertaking daily vehicle checks in line with current Road Transport Legislation and manufacturer’s guidelines and instructions.
* Completing daily work schedules and providing feedback on completed work.
* Liaising with the Water Recycling Operational Logistics teams regarding any operational issue.
* Working closely with local site operators, sludge technicians, and other relevant teams.
* Adhering to compliance with EU Driver Hours Regulations and internal compliance procedures.
* Reporting all accidents and incidents correctly in line with internal processes.
* Completing work accurately, recording via appropriate channels.
* In this role, you must be able to work at height without restrictions and you will be expected to complete relevant occupational health checks including maintaining three points of contact when on a ladder.
* Physical Work: Prepare to roll up your sleeves & muck in! You’ll be required to carry out manual tasks, including lifting and sorting waste materials, ensuring everything is disposed of or recycled in the correct manner. This will involve loading and unloading materials at various locations.
What does it take to be a Mobile Sludge Operator?
* Class 1 Driving License (C+E).
* Fully completed driver CPC.
* Basic mechanical knowledge and experience with a hands-on attitude: You’re not afraid to get your hands dirty and enjoy physical work.
* Environmentally Conscious: A passion for sustainability and waste management will go a long way in this role.
* High level of attention to detail, specifically in adherence to company processes and record keeping.
* Flexible approach to work due to the nature of the shift pattern and requirements to cover colleagues when necessary.
* Strong team player with the ability to work autonomously too.
* Good communication skills.
* Demonstrates commitment to personal and team health and safety.
