An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist to join the multi-professional staff team at the Urgent Care & Assessment Team (UCAT) based at St Mary's Hospital, Kettering. The UCAT forms part of the extended Community Mental Health Service and responds to the mental health needs within our locality. The applicant should be available to work shifts, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and be willing to participate as a member of the multi-professional team providing assessment and intensive home treatment to service users in the acute phase of a mental illness.
We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic individual highly skilled in assessment, risk assessment and management, effective decision making, and the ability to work under pressure. The successful candidate will contribute to the team's commitment to a recovery-based approach promoting social inclusion and collaborative working. The role includes shift coordination, delegation of duties, prioritizing and problem solving, mentoring junior staff, supporting the wider MDT, and ensuring we maintain high standards of care delivery.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The UCAT delivers mental health support to individuals in the community. We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive, and dynamic individual (RMN/RNLD/OT/Social Worker) to join our fast-paced MDT providing a 7-day a week, 365-day a year service, which operates between the hours of 08:15am to 9:30pm. The following services are provided:
Assessments: Undertaking holistic biopsychosocial assessments of people in crisis and deciding on a collaborative treatment plan as an alternative to acute inpatient care or signposting to other appropriate community or third sector services.
Home Treatment Team: Working as part of a close-knit team to deliver high-quality person-centered care in the least restrictive setting. This requires the use of (as well as being offered training) CBT/DBT skills, de-escalation techniques, managing risks, and brief supportive counseling skills to work towards shared treatment goals with the service user within their social network.
The role requires effective communication and leadership skills, autonomous decision making, and dynamic risk assessment skills. We are looking for someone with experience in working in a team, who has a positive attitude but can also be proactive and work alone when required. You will be an active member of the MDT working to ensure that the UCAT service is provided to the highest possible standard.
