Job Summary: The Research Fellow will engage in an ERC-funded project ( aimed at developing new frameworks to investigate the climate resilience of container transportation. The role involves identifying climate threats, assessing the associated risks, and developing cost-effective adaptation strategies for container supply chains (CSCs). It could include work related to safe and resilient shipping routes in global and Arctic areas) under changing climatic conditions, the container transportation network optimisation, and risk-based resilience and sustainability studies across various cases. You will be expected to employ decision-making models and network analyses to refine climate risk data mining methods and bolster the CSC adaptation to climate change. Additionally, you will support the planning, coordination, and execution of the project, manage research resources, and contribute to the dissemination of findings through publications and presentations at project meetings and related conferences., Research
* Lead and manage the research work packages and technical tasks on climate change
adaptation for CSCs
* Liaise with other project researchers and the project investigators to coordinate and
prioritise the research activities.
* Take a primary role in leading and managing the project to ensure its progress, including
the preparation of both technical and administrative documents, attendance of project meetings, and reports on progress on a bi-weekly basis.
* Maintain awareness of and take measures to achieve project deliverables and milestones.
* Contribute to publications and dissemination of the research outputs, including
presentations at project working meetings and related conferences.
* Analyse the moving features and hidden patterns in container transportation according to
the multi-resources data.
* Plan the safe and resilient routes for ships under changing climate.
* Detect and identify the potential risk of container transportation.
* Optimise the shipping network of container transportation.
* Develop new frameworks for risk-based resilience and sustainability studies in CSCs.
* Validate the frameworks and models using the case.
* Use network analysis techniques together with local climate indicators to improve the
resilience of CSCs for climate threats.
* Contribute to the development of new models, techniques and methods for climate
adaptation in CSCs.
* Travel to overseas for data collection and case studies.

Candidates should possess a PhD in transportation and logistics or a related field, with deep expertise in the climate resilience of transportation networks. You should also have robust engineering skills, including experience with optimisation techniques, decisionmaking methods, and network analyses. Demonstrable research capabilities and the ability to disseminate research findings through high-quality publications in international journals and refereed conferences are essential.
