Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen in EPUT and we are in the position to appoint a Ward Manager for Longview Ward, our Child and Adolescent Inpatient Services based at The St Aubyn Centre, Colchester.
The successful candidate will be a competent practitioner with a proven record of leadership skills as a senior nurse and able to take responsibility for the overseeing of assessments of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for young people with complex mental health needs.

* The candidate will have a high level knowledge of CQC requirements and have a philosophy of the 6 C's of care.
* Active participation will be required in the training and education of learners allocated to the Mental Health Service.
* The successful candidate will deliver the highest quality care for patients with acute mental health issues; with a positive attitude and a commitment to maintain EPUT's excellent customer care.

Job Responsibilities
Role Summary
* To facilitate mental health service provision in line with the identified needs of users and purchasers of the service, within current research and legislation and within the Trust's Strategic direction.
* You will work with the Area Chief Nurse to ensure that the nursing service is contemporary, evidence based and in line with practice standards, providing day-to-day nursing, clinical leadership, evaluation and monitoring of the service.
* You will also have responsibility for the day-to-day supervision and management of lower banded staff within your professional group and team locality. As required by your manager this may include the management of these staff in line with agreed Trust HR processes.
* To contribute to the development and implementation of Trust and Government directives within the locality.
* To deliver high quality nursing care and treatment within the clinical setting to service users and their carers.
* To work in close co-operation with other mental health professionals, statutory and voluntary organisations and community networks.
* The identification, assessment of levels and actions or treatment plans of risks and progress reports to be prepared for clinical reviews.
* To identify, assess and manage clinical and non-clinical risks/hazards in your area through the completion of the relevant risk assessments and the implementation of risk treatment plans for inclusion in the local and Trust's risk registers through the Risk Management Department.
* In delivering your duties you are expected to display behaviours that are aligned with the Trust values and as required in accordance with the NHS Constitution at all times.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* Holds professional registration.
* Experience in CAMHS.
* Knowledge of Mental Health Act.
Desirable Criteria
* Worked at band 6 or above.
* Experience of working in CAMHS.
* Excellent communication skills.
