Job Description
We are looking for a Lead Piping Designer to join nexos based in Aberdeen.
You will play a key role in ensuring the technical quality of piping draughting activities is maintained within budget and schedule.
Regular duties would include:
* Providing design input into tenders and proposals (as required).
* Improvement of design department working practices, systems, and team efficiency.
* Supervision, workload allocation to, and delivery by design personnel in conjunction with Lead/Principal discipline Engineer.
* Ensuring, as far as reasonably practical, that assigned work is compliant with the agreed budget and schedule.
* Maintaining project plan, progress updates, and cost control for assigned scopes.
* Maintaining project scope/schedule change(s) in accordance with the project change control process (as required in conjunction with Lead/Principal Engineer).
* Ensuring compliance with applicable/up-to-date standards, regulations, codes, and procedures.
* Estimate/schedule preparation & approval and electronic submission via digital eco-system (Slingshot).
* Maintaining effective communication with project management and inter-discipline teams.
* Preparation, review & check of work, including assigned personnel, output, and delivery (including remote working, e-checking/approval, etc.).
* Maintaining discipline/design document filing (including electronic) & updating design database(s).
* Conducting and supporting the competency assessment of design personnel.
* Providing support to assigned design personnel (including trainee mentoring & technical assistance).
* Maintaining regular contact and dialogue with Lead/Principal Engineer, highlighting issues, concerns, or areas for improvement.
* Supporting senior personnel/assisting Lead Engineer with execution of their responsibilities and duties.
* Responsible for implementation of relevant design requirements including software (CAD/Model, etc.).
To be successful in this role, you should be able to demonstrate:
* Extensive experience in the Oil & Gas industry with HNC (or equivalent) in an appropriate engineering subject (Piping/Mechanical).
* Broad knowledge and expertise of draughting techniques.
* Highly experienced in selection/use of codes, practices, standards & statutory documentation (including multi-discipline).
* Awareness and suitable application of Quality Control, Safety & Environmental methods and engineering procedures for design.
* Highly experienced in the direction and organisation of design teams within project environments (all sizes).
* Competent in commercial, contractual, and administrative aspects of design.
It would be desirable to hold mandatory offshore certifications (BOSIET, MIST, Medical, etc.).
