An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Environmental Health team within ‘Place Services’ for a Food and Safety Team leader. The successful applicant will be a part of a team of 9, supporting Harts front line Environmental Health services.
Working with the Environmental Health and Licensing Contract Manager the postholder will lead the ‘Food and Safety team’ in delivering efficient and effective services. Helping ensure best practice within a small team, through the development of focused systems, considered performance management, and innovative working.
Helping secure high standards of service delivery and positive outcomes for our residents and businesses.
The applicant
The applicant will have:
* A degree in Environmental Health or equivalent.
* E.H.O.R.B registration, or equivalent, to enable officer to undertake food hygiene enforcement controls in line with ‘Food Law Code of Practice’.
* Detailed knowledge and understanding of legislation, policy, guidance and best practice relevant to service functions
* Ability to lead, motivate and inspire the confidence of others
* Significant post qualification experience of Food and Safety regulation and enforcement, ideally within local government.
* Be committed to providing high quality customer service.
The key responsibilities for the role of Environmental Health Team Leader (Food and Safety) are as follows:
* Working with the Environmental Health & Licensing Contract Manager as nominated ‘Lead Officer’ for Food Hygiene.
* Helping lead food and safety functions within the team in accordance with the service plan and key performance indicators.
* To be a senior Environmental Health professional, providing high quality technical advice to the team, and handling complex service requests.
* Inspecting premises in accordance with programmes of work and relevant codes of practice
* To provide day-to-day management of the ‘Food and Safety team’ in relation to programmed inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions
* To drive continuous service improvements, challenging existing practice, and actively seeking ways of achieving greater outcomes.
* To assist the Environmental Health & Licensing Contract Manager in developing internal policies, procedures and preparing Statutory returns.
* To work closely with stake holders, including external agencies and service users, to ensure co-ordinated, efficient and effective service delivery.
