For many fans of Formula One, the sport exists between lights and chequered flag on a Sunday afternoon. It begins and ends with the exploits of the drivers on the track. But this is merely the tip of the spear. The reality of modern F1 is that of a complex and intertwined operation, every part of which needs to perform near its limit if success is to be achieved. From the pit crew searching for the ultimate repeatable pit stop, to the inspiration of the designers, the application of engineers and the herculean efforts of an army of fabricators and machinists. Much of our success is thanks to the diversity of thought and spectrum of skill sets held within the team, our ability to recognise unique contributions from individual team members is just a part of why we love what we do.
Red Bull Racing & Technology are seeking an experienced Composite Assembly Production Engineer to further expand our Composite Assembly team. This role is crucial for creating, maintaining, and continuously improving our composite assembly processes. They form the 'bridge' between our design and manufacturing teams, with involvement from initial design requirements through to finished assemblies on the car.
In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring that our composite assembly processes deliver design intent as efficiently as possible. You will use your previous experience and expertise to create clear, efficient production processes and maintain configuration control of these processes.
Your responsibilities:
* Understand Design Intent and drive Design for Manufacturing (DfM) based on Production Engineering experience and feedback.
* Create and communicate clear, efficient production processes that deliver design intent.
* Problem solve and capture/action opportunities to improve our processes.
* Communicate effectively between functions, building strong, collaborative relationships.
* Work with designers to understand design intent and agree on key design criteria and manufacturing requirements.
* Create clear, efficient, and achievable production processes that deliver components and assemblies meeting design intent.
* Maintain configuration control of the production process, ensuring alignment with routings and providing the necessary support/training for manufacturing.
* Develop robust jigging strategies for composite assemblies.
* Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (G,D&T) in composite assembly and jig design.
* Utilise in-depth knowledge of Metrology and measurement systems.
Who you are:
The successful candidate will have a passion for achieving high-quality products and the ability to motivate others within the business and the wider Supply Chain to deliver consistently exceptional results. You should have a comprehensive understanding of composite assembly processes and experience in a high-precision, high-pressure manufacturing environment. Additionally, you should be proficient in Quality Tools like Problem Solving, FMEA, and MSA, with a proven track record of using these skills to develop and improve manufacturing processes.
Not only is this a fantastic Composite Assembly Production Engineer position, but it is also a fantastic team to work with here at Red Bull Technology. A good salary is just the start; there are many other benefits too, such as our bonus scheme, private health care cover, life assurance scheme, workplace nursery scheme, company-contributed pension scheme, on-site gym & fitness classes, free daily food allowance, and a cycle-to-work scheme. Above all, the job satisfaction doesn't get any better than the feeling of making a real contribution to our championship-winning grand prix cars.
