We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated 8a Clinical Psychologist to provide a psychological service to children, young people and their families accessing care for Cystic Fibrosis or General Paediatrics at Peterborough City Hospital (PCH). While being based at PCH, the post holder will be part of our Psychological Medicine Service for Children, Young People and their Families at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge and employed by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Foundation Trust. This is a large team comprised of Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Counsellor Practitioners, Family Therapist, Specialist Mental Health Practitioners, Psychiatrists, Family Support Worker and Youth Worker.
The post is part time (0.4 WTE) with 1 day working into Cystic Fibrosis and 1 day responding to referrals from General Paediatrics. The post holder will provide a highly specialist clinical psychology service to people accessing these services and form part of the multi-disciplinary service delivery of these specialist teams.
Prospective candidates must have HCPC registration.
The post will involve carrying out specialist psychological assessments and providing interventions for patients and their families. The post holder will work closely with a well-established team of Consultants, together with the wider multi-disciplinary team to support and develop psychological understanding of patients’ presenting difficulties through consultation, supervision and training.
The post holder will have excellent communication, clinical and teamwork skills and will have demonstrated their ability to work effectively in teams in an acute care setting.
The ideal candidate will have a strong teamwork ethic and sense of accountability, accompanied by an ability to work under considerable pressure at times. They will need to prioritise their workload and be prepared to work in a responsive way to the demands of a number of busy teams.
