The job will involve working in a busy inner city training practice. The candidate will be working in a supportive and progressive GP practice. The practice is very keen on training and educating new applicants to reach a high standard of knowledge.
Main duties of the job
1. Receiving patients and helping them where possible
2. Booking appointments on computers
3. Using the telephone, answering routine inquiries and transferring them to other departments
4. Taking and giving messages to patients, doctors/nurses, hospitals, and other agencies
5. Administrative/Clerical duties
6. Knowledge of and working to the Receptionists protocol
7. Use of computers for repeat prescriptions, appointments, etc.
8. Full participation with colleagues in team activities as laid down in receptionists protocol (e.g., Team Meetings, Away Day, etc.)
9. Preparing repeat prescriptions for doctors' signatures
10. Handling general enquiries, explaining surgery procedures, making new and follow-up appointments
11. Filing incoming mail
12. Putting new patient records in order
13. Dealing appropriately with various forms
14. Scanning
15. Recording requests for home visits and messages
16. Extraction of records as required and filing them
17. Taking & typing minutes of meetings
18. Registration of New Patients
19. Any other duties, which may be required and agreed with the Practice
About us
The team consists of 4 GP partners plus trainee registrars, an advanced nurse practitioner, and practice nurse, a Health Care Worker along with a Care Navigator & GP Assistant, and admin & managerial staff. It is a very friendly forward-thinking practice with great emphasis on training and education.
Person Specification
Experience
* Good knowledge of the English language
* IT literate
* Experience of working in a GP practice is desirable; however, training will be given to reach the standard required
