The opportunity has arisen to join an industry leader in the UK's Building Services providers. We design, develop, and deliver a wide range of offsite-prefabricated, innovative, and sustainable building service solutions throughout the UK & Ireland.
Alternative Heat specialises in the design, supply, and installation of a wide range of Prefabricated energy solutions, typically built in NI and shipped throughout the UK & Ireland. We also offer turnkey design, build & operate solutions for commercial energy centers and large-scale district heating solutions and have experience with successfully procuring and delivering many similar packages to a wide range of public bodies throughout Ireland & UK.

Job summary:
To assist in the preparation of mechanical designs for commercial heating plant rooms and prefabricated products for the high-rise residential, Healthcare, Education, Hotel / Leisure sector, and data centers.
Working in conjunction with an established design team who operate with the latest AutoCAD & MEP 3D design packages, you will be tasked to coordinate all the M&E services within the offsite fabrication packages to ensure that they can be fabricated, delivered, and installed to the client specification and current regulations.
Your role will deliver the completed design for the project so that it can be handed over to our contracts teams for fabrication and installation, acting as a key point of contact and information, liaising with all stakeholders to provide a professional service to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Overall responsibility for taking the project from contract award through to design approval and preparation for fabrication and construction.
* Review and provide feedback on designs produced by the engineering team.
* Understanding and ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and quality standards.
* Set up and chair weekly design meetings with the client, suppliers, vendors, and interface contractors to ensure we are developing our design accurately in line with client requirements and that will be buildable.
* Set up and chair weekly internal design meetings to discuss BIM modelling developments, project design calculations, internal and external design requirements.
* At the earliest stages of the project, review and fully understand our scope of works and work to set out our schedule of deliverables for the project - technical submittals, design calculations, drawings, trackers, plant & build schedules.
* Continuously work to manage, recruit and build our internal M&E teams to continuously expand on our design capabilities.
* Attendance at project design meetings when required, remotely or on site throughout Ireland, UK, and Europe.
* Work in conjunction with contracts managers and commissioning teams to assist in the commissioning process to ensure the project is delivered to the client specification and the design intent.
* Liaising professionally with clients, suppliers, contractors, and other relevant authorities as necessary.
* Keep up to date with emerging technology and integration with new design concepts.
Essential Criteria
* Educated to HNC/HND level in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Control Engineering or an equivalent relevant qualification.
* Minimum of three years' design experience within building services.
* Knowledge of legislation, standards, safe working practices, and environmental best practices would be desirable.
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
* Excellent organisation, planning, and attention to detail.
* Ability to work under pressure on own initiatives to achieve self and team targets.
