Adult Speech & Language therapist; Community, Sutton Health & Care, South West London. (Band 6) - 2 positions available.
The Speech & Language therapy (SLT) team work across the Community Neuro & Adult SLT service, providing rehabilitation & intervention to maximize our patient's potential. This requires us to be patient-centered & specialists within our field, using evidence-based practice.
The team works with adult patients with acquired communication & swallowing difficulties, so being trained in dysphagia assessment & management is a vital aspect of this role. Staff need to be able to travel around the borough & work autonomously.
Main duties of the job
The Sutton Community Neuro therapy & Adult Speech & Language therapy service is a multidisciplinary team offering specialist assessment & intervention to adults in the Sutton area with neurological conditions and/or acquired communication difficulties.
The service provides intervention to stroke survivors and other complex neuro conditions, promoting quality of life & independence.
Adult Community Speech and Language Therapy (ACSLT) provides assessment & intervention to educate, train, rehab, enable & manage conditions alongside carers & professionals.
Therapists are expected to work flexibly across the pathways.

* Current Driving Licence
* Access to a car for work purposes
Qualifications and Training Essential criteria
* Relevant degree or post graduate diploma in Speech Therapy
* Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered.
* Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
* Competent to independently manage and appropriately treat clients with complex dysphagia needs
* Evidence of continuous professional development
Desirable criteria
* Training in the Lee Silverman Voice Therapy approach
Experience Essential criteria
* Demonstrate specialist post qualification experience with an adult caseload with dysphagia and communication needs
* Relevant experience as a B5 SALT
* Experience in teaching/training and supporting other health professionals
* Experience of working in a community setting
* Videofluoroscopy experience.
Desirable criteria
* Audit experience
Skills /Abilities Essential criteria
* Able to demonstrate evidence-based clinical practice and use of outcome measures
* Effective written and spoken communication skills
* Ability to work independently
* Basic computer skills
