Job summary
Do you want to make a difference to the lives of children, young people and their families across Warwickshire? If so, then we need your help to deliver our highly regarded School Nursing Service.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and solution-focused Healthcare Support Worker to join our dynamic and innovative team.
About us
Connect for Health is a school nurse-led service that supports children, young people and their families in Warwickshire. We deliver key elements of the Healthy Child programme, working to identify and meet the health and wellbeing needs of the school-aged population. We aim to give individuals the best start in life and reduce health inequalities.
About the role
The healthcare support worker role is varied and includes the delivery of the national Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) and Health Needs Assessment (HNA) to school-aged children. On a daily basis you will be recording the height and weight of reception and year 6 pupils and entering the details into a specialist IT programme. You will also support children to complete an online health questionnaire. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is required.
The role also involves sharing Public Health interventions with children. This is done via school assemblies, classroom lessons and community events. This requires a person who is able to effectively engage and communicate with school-aged children and school staff, tailoring your communication to be age appropriate.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be based in the Stratford Hub and work from different community locations. You will work closely with other team members to support overall service delivery, working flexibly and creatively to best engage and meet the diverse health needs of those you serve.
The working pattern is Warwickshire term time only. The successful candidate will work a minimum of Monday to Wednesday; however, more hours are available if desired. Annual leave will be taken solely during Warwickshire school holidays.
This role varies from 0 to 37hrs term time only
You will have experience of working with children, young people and families and have an interest in health promotion. You must possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships, as well as being adept at maintaining discretion and confidentiality at all times.
You must possess a full driving licence, be able to travel, and have access to your own transport.
About us
Compass is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults, and you should share our commitment. All Compass posts are subject to appropriate level DBS checks. We positively encourage applications from all members of the community, regardless of gender, race, faith, disability, gender reassignment, age, or sexual orientation, and encourage applications from people who have experiences in life which enrich skills and empathy. This is part of our commitment to equality and developing a truly inclusive and representative workforce. We are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments individuals may require in the recruitment process, on commencement, or once in post.
Benefits
We offer a range of benefits including:
* 27 days holiday + bank holidays, rising to 32 days over time
* Life assurance at 2 x basic salary
* Competitive contributory pension scheme
* Family-friendly policies
* 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme and OH service
