We currently have an opportunity for a Crematorium General Assistant to join our dedicated team of funeral professionals at Rotherham Crematorium. As a General Assistant you will play a crucial role in supporting the day to day operations within the crematorium. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a respectful and dignified environment while providing essential assistance to our staff and families.

Here is what a typical day could look like for you:
As a Crematorium General Assistant you will provide essential support and assistance in various aspects of crematorium operations, this will include. Responsible for the professional collection of the deceased from funeral directors, ensuring care and respect at all times during transportation.
To undertake the full range of gardening, cemetery and horticultural tasks
Responsible for opening and closing the site gates and book of remembrance room
Maintain the grounds to the highest standard in accordance with recognised horticultural and grounds maintenance practices
Construct, place, fix memorials and subsequently maintain to the highest standard
To operate the cremators and ancillary equipment in accordance with manufactures guidelines.
Ensure the safe custody of cremated remains left in the care of the crematorium.
Ensure the highest standards of house keeping both in and outside the Chapel and ancillary rooms
Prepares chapels for each service considering client needs including varying religious requirements.
Conduct witness interments and scattering of the cremated remains
Ensuring the consistent delivery of the highest levels of client service

This role will suit someone who: Holds 1+ years experience in a customer service environment.
High attention to detail is essential.
Proactive approach and willingness to communicate effectively with a range of people, both in-person, over the phone and via email.
Ability to successfully multitask and meet multiple deadlines.
Computer literate in addition to experience using Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
Presentable at all times, acting with professional conduct and showing empathy.
