The home provides specialist residential care for the frail elderly and those suffering with dementia and it is essential that you have a solid background within the health sector. There is a deputy manager, and a QA team, to work with. There is also a full, off site, support team available, providing direct input to maintenance, procurement, HR, accounts, general admin, and other operational matters. The home has had a Good CQC rating. As Manager you will be directly involved in the day-to-day running of the floor and office of the service so that the unit meets the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act and associated regulations. Main Duties: Your key responsibilities will centre on the management of the staff team on shift, and the delivery of care to those service users living at the service. IS THE SERVICE SAFE - you will: Protect service users from avoidable harm and abuse. Manage risks (e.g. mobility / behaviour / hygiene) to service users so they are supported. Ensure care staff provide assistance to the service user group in a timely manner. Assist in the recruitment procedure (interviewing), in conjunction with our Human Resource Management team (admin and training), and be responsible for mentoring new care staff. Manage the medication process so service users medicines are received, administered, recorded, and returned correctly. Review and monitor the quality of the service to drive improvement. Complete relevant safety checks (e.g. fire / legionella / nurse call). Manage the DoL process (e.g. applications for authorisation / mental capacity assessments / best interest decisions). Promote social activities at the residential care home / support, facilitate, and record access to the local community. IS THE SERVICE EFFECTIVE - you will: Ensure service users nutritional needs are assessed and recorded. Organise service user access to healthcare services and ensure ongoing healthcare support. Ensure care staff have the confidence and skills needed to carry out their roles and responsibilities through mentoring. Ensure care staff have regular supervisions. IS THE SERVICE CARING - you will: Ensure service users and their relatives are consulted and actively involved in making decisions about their care, treatment and support. Ensure your care staff develop positive caring relationships with service users. Ensure your care staff promote your service users privacy and dignity. IS THE SERVICE RESPONSIVE - you will: Assess service users needs and respond to any change in needs so that they receive personalised care that is responsive to these needs. Update care plans to reflect the care and support given. Involve service users in decision making about their care and listen and learn from peoples experiences, concerns, and complaints. IS THE SERVICE WELL LED - you will: Chair service users and relatives meetings, take note of anything arising, and in discussion with your service provider make changes to the service provision at the service. The successful candidate will have the following experience and qualifications: RMA / NVQ 5 or equivalent completed or enrolled. A proven track record in residential home management as a manager or deputy manager. Elderly / dementia experience. A sound knowledge of the CQC and applicable legislation / standards.
