Providing quality, inspiring innovation and delivering value is what we set out to achieve at Priory Healthcare. Enabling our patients with mental health illness to receive a truly integrated and holistic approach to their treatment, regardless of complexity or severity, thanks to the knowledge and expertise of our multidisciplinary clinical teams.
We don’t just talk about putting employees first. We know that Priory wouldn’t exist without their combined energy, expertise and effort. So we invest heavily in training, provide first-class support, promote collaborative teamwork and give everyone on our team the opportunities and resources to achieve their full potential.
Priory Healthcare is one of the UK’s leading providers of independent specialist secure and step-down care across the UK. With hospitals around the country, 30 years of experience in our sector and highly skilled and experienced teams, we help patients and commissioners find the right care pathways without the need for multiple reassessments and we are looking for caring, compassionate people to join us.
The Ayr Clinic, with its two step down services - Gatehouse and Lochlea, is a low secure setting, caring for men and women mental illness and/or personality disorders.
Within the service, a rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Secretary to join the administration team.
The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with effective communication skills to work as part of our small team of Medical Secretaries. The team provides an efficient and professional secretarial service to our Consultants, ensuring business processes are effectively and resourcefully managed to support the delivery of a quality care service.
The successful candidate will have previous secretarial/administration experience, excellent keyboard skills and knowledge of the standard Microsoft Office packages. Whilst knowledge of medical terminology would be an advantage, it is not essential as training will be given. The role is varied and tasks include support to the hospital and particularly the medical team. This will regularly include typing, minute taking, receiving telephone enquiries, diary and appointment management, and managing various correspondence. You will also be required to liaise with other Priory Healthcare sites and departments, NHS Clinical Teams, GPs and Commissioners regarding specific patient pathway progress on behalf of the consultants. You will require to have excellent verbal and non-verbal communications including awareness of impact of communication on desired audience. Can flex communication style dependant on situation and message. Will be required to communicate with patients, their families and their representatives, as well as colleagues, and therefore an appropriate customer service approach should be taken.
Knowledge & Experience
You will be passionate about providing a high quality service to the hospital, have strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise own workload. Detail oriented and excellent attention to detail, the ability to work on your own and within a team. The role requires a high level of confidentiality and integrity. Work within existing procedures and processes, however, there will occasionally be the need for more adaptive thinking, particularly when dealing with patients and their families.
Job Advert Location Description

We are looking for people who believe that each person deserves the best, who respects the dignity of others, you’re warm, friendly, with a good sense of humour too. If you can also bring honesty, dedication and an organised approach, you could be the perfect fit for Ayr Clinic. If this sounds like you we look forward to receiving your application.
